Help Wanted: Deputy Tax Collector

The Town of Warren is seeking a dependable, community-minded Warren resident to serve as Deputy Tax Collector.

The Deputy Tax Collector assists with receiving and recording tax payments, maintaining accurate records, answering residents’ questions, and providing office coverage as needed.

Position Details

  • Pay: $15.00–$20.00 per hour
  • Regular schedule: Approximately 2–4 hours per week
  • Public hours: Thursdays from 4:00–6:00 p.m.
  • Peak periods: Hours may increase to approximately 10 hours per week during tax-collection periods in June and July and November and December
  • Additional flexible hours will be required for training and payment processing
  • Paid training is provided
  • Warren residency is required

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Organized, trustworthy, and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable working with the public
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
  • Experienced in customer service, bookkeeping, computer use, recordkeeping, or cash handling

Training and Professional Support

Upon hiring, the successful candidate will receive strong professional support. In addition to outside training opportunities, the Town has retained an experienced former New Hampshire tax collector to provide consultation and help ensure continued high-quality service to residents.
