On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, the Warren and Wentworth Select Boards met with Plymouth Town Manager Scott Weden and Plymouth Fire & Rescue Chief Kevin Pierce to finalize a new emergency medical services (EMS) agreement following the sudden closure of the Warren Wentworth Ambulance Service.
Chief Pierce explained the emergency measures put in place to ensure uninterrupted coverage and noted that a waiver from the State Fire Marshal had allowed mutual aid to continue temporarily. A formal agreement is required for ongoing service.
Under the agreement, Plymouth will charge $1,500 per EMS call, with insurance reimbursements returned to the towns. The average recovery rate is approximately 38%. Based on available data, approximately 68 calls are expected through March, with July and December being the busiest months.
Both Select Boards voted unanimously to approve the agreements.
Local fire departments will continue responding to medical calls. Chief Pierce also praised the teamwork demonstrated over the weekend.
Chief Pierce will attend the Warren Select Board meeting on Wednesday, July 23 at 5:00 PM at the Warren Town Hall to answer public questions. Light refreshments will be available.
